Please read: Notification of clinic closure

COVID-19 UPDATE

Covid-19 Update: We are opening the clinic on Monday 27th July please read the following information.

Dear Patients

We are very pleased to announce that the Physiotherapy Clinic at Wodson Park is re-opening on Monday 27th July after being closed for four months due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The fact that we are based in a Sports and Leisure Centre has meant that we have had to remain closed for longer than most clinics but the Government have now set a date for opening up the leisure centres again after the lockdown and hence we too can now re-open. We are very much looking forward to welcoming both our existing patients back in due course and also any new patients to the practice. However, being open does not mean that there is a return to business as usual. We will all have to adjust to a ‘new normal’ way of working and seeing our patients. The health and safety of all our patients, staff and the wider public is of paramount importance to us and we have worked hard to ensure that you are as safe as possible and that you feel confident to come to the clinic for your Physiotherapy appointment.

In accordance with our professional body guidelines, this now means that we will be offering some face to face consultations whilst still continuing our remote consultations on the telephone or by video.

At Perciato Physiotherapy Clinic we are working within all the legal, regulatory and professional frameworks and following all the protocols for the wearing of PPE (personal protective equipment) and infection prevention and control measures that are recommended by our regulatory bodies and Public Health England (PHE).

We will be screening all patients on the telephone first to see whether we can manage your problem remotely or if it is more appropriate and in your best interest to be seen face to face in the clinic. If you are offered an appointment in the clinic then as much information as possible about your problem and your medical history will be taken over the phone with your consent, to minimize contact time in the clinic.

It is important that you have not experienced any of the following symptoms for the 7 days before you attend your appointment or that you haven’t knowingly been in contact with anyone that has experienced any of these symptoms for the 14 days before your appointment.

The main symptoms are:

  • New continuous cough of any kind
  • A temperature
  • Loss of taste and/or smell
  • Extreme tiredness (fatigue)
  • Sore throat

In addition, please cancel your appointment if you have either a bad cold or you are feeling unusually unwell. Similarly, your Physiotherapist will cancel your appointment if they are experiencing any of the listed signs/symptoms. If you have to cancel your appointment at short notice due to any of the above Covid-19 related signs and symptoms you will not be charged for that cancellation. Please plan ahead for your appointment and only bring essential things with you. No shopping bags please (please leave them in the boot of your car) and please leave all your jewellery at home except wedding rings. This helps to avoid cross contamination.

There will be NO WAITING ROOM facilities. On arrival at Wodson car park patients will be asked to text or call 07958-538596 and leave a message to say that they have arrived. You will be asked to remain in your car until the Physiotherapist is ready for you. This avoids any likelihood of cross over with the previous patient and we are allowing at least 15 minutes in between patients in order for all the surfaces (plinth, door handles, taps, equipment, chairs, card reader etc.) to be disinfected thoroughly as part of our infection prevention and control measures. You will be asked some Covid-19 screening questions and all being well your Physiotherapist will then meet you at the main entrance to Wodson Park.

You will be required to have your temperature taken before you enter the clinic, this will involve using a non-touch infra-red thermometer placed in front of your forehead.

You will be required to wear a suitable face mask on entering Wodson and throughout your consultation. If you do not have one the clinic can provide you with one at a cost of £1.00. Preferably for attending a Physiotherapy appointment, you will be required to wear a fluid resistant surgical mask (FRSM) or Type IIR mask.

Your Physiotherapist will be wearing PPE (mask/gloves and an apron) for the whole of your session as per our regulatory body and PHE guidelines. Social distancing guidelines will be adhered to where possible around Wodson Park and they have a one-way system to comply with these guidelines. A non-touch hand sanitizer unit has been installed in the clinic for patients to use on entry to and exit from the clinic.

The Patient Consent form will include the addition of the following and you will be required to confirm this information: -

  • Confirm that you are not in a high-risk/vulnerable group for Covid-19
  • Confirm that you have not knowingly had any symptoms of Covid-19 in the last 7 days
  • Confirm that you have not knowingly been in contact with anyone who has Covid-19 in the last 14 days.
  • Agree to allow your Physiotherapist to name you as a contact if they (your Physio) are contacted by the NHS Track and Trace. Similarly, you must give the name of your Physiotherapist if you are contacted by the NHS Track and Trace system if the time frame is relevant.

We can email you a consent form to sign and return or you can sign it in clinic and it will be kept in your notes.

Payment for your treatment will be by bank transfer (BACS) or card payment please.

Over the coming weeks we hope to be able to offer appointments to all our patients and welcome new patients to the clinic too. If you are not sure whether your problem requires a remote consultation on the phone or via video (Zoom, Facetime, WhatsApp, Skype) or whether it is appropriate for you to come in and see us face to face or if you have any questions for us then please do not hesitate to give Jo Perciato a call on 07958-538596

I would like to say a very big thank you to all those patients who did contact us during lockdown and those who took the ‘virtual plunge’ and had remote video consultations. They have been very successful and we will definitely be continuing to offer these and telephone consultations beyond this pandemic.

Thank you very much for your continued patience and understanding and we look forward to helping you as best as we can.

Best Wishes
Jo

Comprehensive Remote Consultations

We are continuing to offer our patients remote consultations either over the telephone or via a more comprehensive video-based service. This may be particularly useful for those who are shielding, self-isolating or are just unable to get in to clinic due to family constraints and it is all from the comfort of your own home, no travelling into clinic. Remote consultations include video consultations using either Zoom, Facetime, Skype or WhatsApp. Patients can also receive advice by telephone consultations. Whichever way you speak to your Physiotherapist you are able to do so whilst maintaining isolation and social distancing and all from the comfort of your own home.

There is still lots we can do to help you manage your aches and pains at home. Either via a telephone consultation where we can listen to your symptoms and give you reassurance and advice on self-management or a more comprehensive video consultation, a virtual face to face, we can take a full history, ask you to perform some movement tests and devise a plan of treatment. This will include lots of advice on how to manage your problem and we can also send you exercises, often with an accompanying video to watch and lots of helpful hints and tips for your specific condition.

For a video consultation you will need to have either a smart phone or device such as a laptop, desktop computer or for Facetime an apple product such as an iPhone or iPad. You will need to have the Skype or Zoom App downloaded on to your device. WhatsApp is popular if you have a smart phone. It would be preferable to have your consultation in a quiet room where you have some space to demonstrate some movements if necessary and also somewhere to sit comfortably.

If you would like to arrange an appointment or to discuss which consultation would be most suitable for you then please call Jo on 07958-538596. We will book you a consultation at a time convenient for you within our available time slots.

Payment

  • Telephone consultation – up to 15 minutes - £10.00 (you will not be charged for your initial enquiry unless you consent to continue on with a consultation at that point on the phone)
  • Video consultation – 30 to 40 minutes - £30.00
  • Video consultation – 40 to 50 minutes - £40.00

You can pay by Bank transfer (BACS) or send a cheque in the post. All the bank details will be sent to you on an invoice to your email address.

Please call 07958-538596 for any further information or to arrange for a telephone or video consultation.

Testimonials

"I found a video consultation a great help. It is easier to show where the problem is and the effects the problem is having.

It is also beneficial to be shown the exercises and then receive corrected feedback, which cannot happen during a phone call.

I would thoroughly recommend a video call in these difficult times as it is not only helpful but very reassuring"

- Lynn P

"I began seeing Jo in February for physio treatment following a broken shoulder. Just three sessions into my treatment programme the world changed as a result COVID-19 and my face to face sessions became virtual using video in order to maintain social distancing.

Throughout my treatment, both before and during lockdown, Jo has been reassuring and a source of comfort during an increasingly stressful period. When I contacted her to request an early session due to some discomfort I was feeling, she immediately contacted me to discuss my concerns and brought our session forward by a week during which we adjusted my exercises accordingly.

Using video for physio while feeling a bit odd at first has still been as effective as face to face because Jo has been able to clearly demonstrate and explain new exercises for me to do while at home. Thank you to Jo for all your help, advice, reassurance and laughs these past months"
